Out Now: English Heretic present Wyrd Tales

Wyrd Tales represents the third publication and recording in the English Heretic suite: a depth study supplementing the investigations outlined in the English Heretic Collection.

With twisting and fateful reports reflected in an obsidian mirror, woven by the very hands of the Norns, Wyrd Tales recounts the actual waking nightmares experienced by the staff of English Heretic as they conduct their uncanny investigations. Comprising over two years of research, field visits and pathworkings, Wyrd Tales also surveys the geography of creative inspiration, extrapolating outrageous and vertical asymptotes for future imaginative discourse. Indeed, Wyrd Tales is intended both as an exciting escape from the tyranny of fact and as a practical ordnance survey of our country's psychohistorical contours.

To complement and animate the magazine, Wyrd Tales comes with a 70 minute CD containing documentary evidence of our imaginal interpenetrations. Culled from phonographic recordings, in situ improvisations and studio distillations, these aural commentaries provide the finest synaesthetic liqueur to accompany your fireside readings of this Albionic Al Azif.

Out now on Queasy Listening - Johann Wlight: 'yvnshrynd'

A 23 minute psychogeographic meditation yvnshrynd weaves together a series of recordings gleaned from Wlight's immediate environment. Recorded between August and December 2005, yvnshrynd has evolved organically from intricate sound studies, serendipitous discoveries at temporally significant points and with a spirit of ludic yet disciplined experimentation. The key philosophical theme behind the music on yvnshrynd is the glyph for Virgo, taking its cue from Ean Begg in The Cult Of The Black Virgin.

yvnshyrnd, via a winding and sometimes oblique logic explores the properties of the feminine principle and the undercurrent of the archetype of the Black Virgin. To reiterate the above words of Begg, from a Jungian perspective Virgo represents the transition from a personal attachment to the anima to a transpersonal relationship with the anima mundi - one in which the landscape offers heuristic and hermetic symbols to work with. It is these symbols which Wlight with his delicate and methodical approach has mined into a beautifully layered and wonderfully restrained piece of music.
